How To Downgrade iOS 5.0.1 To iOS 5.0 On iPhone , iPad , iPod [Tips and Tricks]

iOS 5.0.1 has been released by Apple in order to fix iOS 5 battery life time issue, many people have updated to iOS 5.0.1 and the others looking to downgrade to an earlier version of iOS in order to enjoy the untethered jailbreak iOS 5 in this post we will show you how to Downgrade iOS 5.0.1 to lower iOS version.

Notice:The downgrade is only possible if you have SHSH saved for the particular version. You can check out the SHSH versions saved on Cydia servers by opening Cydia and checking on the top. If you have the SHSH versions then go on with the guide. 

 

Download Required

Download iOS 5.0: Click Here

Step 1: Connect your iOS with your computer via USB cable, Put your device in DFU mode Device, (Follow the steps below for how to put your device in DFU mode)

  • First turn off your device.
  • Press and hold Power + Home buttons for about 10 seconds,
  • Release the Power button while holding Home button for an extra 10 seconds.
  • When the screen  goes completely blank then you’re in DFU mode.

Step 2: Navigate to Windows > System32 > drivers > etc on PC

Locate a file named hosts, make a backup copy of it and then open it up with a text editor.

Step 4: Add the following code to hosts and save the file:

74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

 

Step 5: Open up iTunes and choose your iOS device from the sidebar. While holding the Shift (on Windows) or Alt (on OS X) key, click on Restore and choose the firmware file you downloaded in Step 1.

Step 6: You may receive Error 10xx after doing this, but there is no need to worry about it.

You must download a program like TinyUmbrella or Fix Recovery, open it up and click on Exit Recovery to get out of the error.
